Used MP3 Player Sold with Secrets…

I was just cheking out one of my favorite places to catch up on Geek.com - and They had an article about an Person that bought a used MP3 Player and when he hooked it up to his computer - Thinking he might get some free MP3’s to play with - Insead he found he had detailed Military info and Plans instead.

I wanted to bring this to everyone’s attention that if you use your USB Stick or iPhone or MP3 Player or any removable device to make sure you secure your data on it - Just incase it gets stolen or misplaced (hey some of these devices are tiny) - and if you ever sell your mp3 player make sure you wipe it clean.

One of the best free programs to secure your data is TrueCrypt - See below for details of this software.

TrueCrypt - Is simple to use and very secure - I would highly recommend it if you store your passwords, personal data, or even if you carry your resume on it around. Who know what can happen to these tiny devices. Do you really want your information in the wrong hands?

And A freeware program to wipe your drive/usb stick with would be the following:DP Shredder

I linked this to Portable Freeware - As they will show you how to install and run and link to the most current version.

Yes, You don’t need to wipe a USB Stick - But the portable units with harddrives need to be wiped clean when selling or giving them away. This is only for your protection and piece of mind. Again you don’t want your personal files showing up in the wrong hands.

The Ultimate Gaming Machine 10 Yrs Later

Boy, How the times have changed - Below is a video from Leo Laport (Of Twit) When he was on The Screen Savers on Tech TV.

This PC back then was a monster Costing over $10,000 and it was only a Pentium II 400 Mhz, with 128MB of memory (And they said 64MB was more then enough) and the Sony Widescreen CRT - was about $5000 Dollars then.

Just Imagine what kind of Machine you could buy today for 10 Grand. Wow -

Just think you could purchase a Quad Core 2.8 Ghz Machine with 4 GB of Memory and 22″ Widescreen LCD with 800GB Hard Drive all under $1000 - Boy the Times have changed.

Compact Flash Raid Unit

Compact Flash Raid Unit

This has to be one of the best new devices available today. This is like a normal RAID Unit that uses hard drives for storage spaceĀ  except that this CompactStor uses Compact Flash cards as a safe storage media. This device support spanning and RAID 1 (Mirroring). This unit uses the same size and connector as a 2.5 inch drive making this compatible with newer hard drive slots of Laptop, SFF Computers (Small Form Factor) and any Hard Drive enclosures that supports 2.5″ SATA Drives.

What Makes this device exceptional is that gives you the same benefits as Solid State Disks (SSD) by employing less power, less heat, shock prevention, and noiseless operation.

But the best part is the lower cost of this versus the SSD. A non RAID SSD cost about $500 - But you can purchase 2 32GB for about $80-$100 a piece and this adapter for $100 - For a total cost of $260-$300 for a SSD RAID Device - This can be a great storage device for all your important documents with complete backup of the data automatically.

This supports up the 32gb of Compact Flash Cards.
