Orgins of CyberCrimes: Report
Today Dr Tech was reading an article about Cyber Crimes and Security. I was shocked to see that from research performed by Symantic Corp that 1/3 of all computer attacks worldwide in the second half of 2006 originated from machines located in the US. I have always heard that most of the crimes originate in China or some other third world nation. But that really is not the case. So you ask how can this happen? Well this happens when computer are comprimized by Bots and Zombie Machines. Yes all those phishing attacks, Spam, and malicious coding starts here in the USA. How can this be? Well this is caused by machines that are part of larger network of zombie machines - awaiting to be used for malicious doings. And if you don’t run a virus / spyware program on your machines you might be adding to this network.
Also according to Symentec - Internet explorer is taking the brunt of all attacks - 77 percent of all attacks at geared towards this browser. So you want to protect yourself - Switch to Firefox.
Just remember these cyber criminals are highly organized, Ruthless, and Highly Evolved. They are trying to outwit you and your software into letting them take control. So take this as a warning and protect yourself - See below for a list of where to get yourself protected.

The bots and zombies actually doing the attacks might be in the U.S. but they are most often originally compromised by overseas perps I would wager.
